The Town Cowichan Valley  ·  Vancouver Island, BC

River mornings,
lake afternoons.

Lake Cowichan — a small Vancouver Island town on the river and lake of the same name. Twenty minutes from Duncan. An hour from anywhere busier. This page is about what it's actually like to live here.

About the Town

A town built around the water.

Lake Cowichan is built around the water. The river runs through town. The lake sits at one end. Most days here happen between the two.

It's a town that still operates at human scale — Country Grocer for the week's run, small shops for everything else, the river walk for the in-between.

A twenty-minute drive to Duncan when you need it. An hour to Nanaimo or Victoria when you don't.

On the river

Quiet morning runs, clear water, and a fishery that draws people from across the Island.

Off the road

Trails out the back of town. Forests that don't end at the property line.

In town

Sunfest weekends, river walks, neighbours who actually wave.

Community

It's a small town. We act like it.

The Duck Pond and everything around it.

The Duck Pond is a kids-and-neighbours spot — easy to stop by for ten minutes and turn it into an hour. Sunfest weekends, river walks, lake days, and the trails closer than most people expect.

At Plante Homes, community isn't an afterthought — it's part of how we build. We're a local, family-run company, which means we live where we build, support where we can, and try to build neighbourhoods that add to the town instead of pushing it sideways. Do good work, support local, help create places people are proud to call home.
